3 Article Marketing Tips to Use

In my previous article marketing strategy post I talked about what article marketing is.  Now, I have 3 article marketing tips to help make this strategy work better for you and your blog.

Tip 1:  Write Articles Often

OK, this doesn’t sound like a time-saver, but don’t underestimate the power of article marketing.  When you have a good article posted at EzineArticles, you’re almost guaranteed good, targeted traffic — for free!  While the bulk of the traffic comes in within the first week, it keeps trickling in long after that.

By writing articles often, you not only reap the benefit of that first week’s posting, but each “trickle” after that builds up over time.  Remember, it’s all free and all targeted!

How often is often?  Aim for at least three articles a week per site.  If you can do more, go for it!

(And if you can’t manage the one a week, there are article writing services that can help you out there, for a very low cost — $5 or less for an article.)

The point, what articles you write today can literally pay you for years to come.  I have articles I wrote 3 years ago that still send me traffic!  Imagine what can happen if you consistently write articles for publication.

Tip 2:  Make Your Articles Unique

This actually has two parts.  First, you want to submit your original unique article to EzineArticles.  Then once EzineArticles has published your article, you next step is to submit it to other article directories and blogs.

The only thing getting in your way is Google’s love for unique content.  While at the moment Google isn’t penalizing for duplicate content, there may be a time where it will.  So, you should make sure your articles are as unique as possible.

OK, this sounds like a monumental task.  If you want to submit your article to, say 50 other places, does that mean you have to re-write it 50 times?  Not necessarily, and I’ll go into that in a bit.  But for now, think about how you can make small changes to make each article version more unique.

Tip 3:  Make Your Links Work For You!

In your article and/or resource box, you’ll be allowed links back to your site.  Make your links work for you, instead of against you.

Here’s an example.  Say I want to link to my post about the best cheap web hosting reseller.  Instead of saying something like:

To read more about the best cheap web hosting reseller sites ever, click here.

Yikes!  I just lost out on some link juice doing it that way!  What would be better is:

Do you know your hosting options?  Find out about the best cheap web hosting reseller sites — their pros and cons and how the right choice can save you money!

If you notice, I used my keyword phrase “cheap web hosting reseller” as my anchor text — the words that you click on to visit the link.

By using your keyword phrase as anchor text, it gives more “weight” to the link.  It doesn’t seem like much, but you’d be surprised on how many people don’t do this.  Give yourself the advantage and use the anchor text!
