Here Are Some Link Building Mistakes That You Don’t Want To Make

Anyone that does extensive link building knows that it takes a lot of work. In fact, it happens to be the most difficult part of search engine optimization. Actually, as long as you pay attention to detail you won’t have to worry about making mistakes that will waste all of the time you had invested. You want to get relevant backlinks pointing towards your site as opposed to spammed links. The internet is full of so called SEO experts that will spread information around that is either outdated or that will damage your chances of getting high ranking in the search engines; so, be careful who you listen to. Read the rest of this article to discover some of the common ,mistakes to avoid.

Linking to your home page alone seems right but you need to link to other pages too. You can link to your home page alone if that is the only page that you want to have high ranking in the search engines. To succeed you must allow each page to contain its own unique keyword group that is separate from the other pages. Ranking for multiple keywords is as simple as backlinking to specific pages and getting them to show up high in the search engines. Besides that, getting backlinks to your other pages makes sense because these pages are more targeted for your visitors to drop in. And the good news is that it is simpler to gather backlinks for pages other than the home page. Webmaster’s and bloggers will happily post a backlink on their sites to an article on your page if it is valuable information that their readers will enjoy. Your main page doesn’t really contain any specific content so it is impractical for someone to give you a backlink to it.

Never add a link from your site to a page containing dozens or even a hundred or more links on it. At all costs avoid the pages you come across that has 200 or 300 links on a single page. But there are directories out there that use the “no-follow” tag on all the free links, in such case, it won’t matter if your link is on there, it still counts.

A site that has a bad reputation can make your site look bad so don’t place any outgoing links on your site without checking out if it is ethical or not. Some good sites turn bad and might start participating in activities that are frowned upon by the search engines. To be safe, monitor your links and pay attention to the sites that they lead to.

Building links that put you ahead of the competition takes patience but the results are worth it. It requires you to be careful on every step so that you don’t end up making such costly mistakes.

Increase Web Site Traffic Tips

“Build it and they will come.”  OK, not always, so here is some increase web site traffic tips for you to apply.  Doesn’t matter if you have a blog or static website, use can increase website traffic with a few hints and tips.

Popularity Rules

After you have built up a website the first thing you want to do is to make it popular. You want more and more visitor’s everyday coming and visiting your site and thereby increase traffic – and profitability.

Am I right?   After all, it is why you’re reading this.  You want people to get good information, plus do the “most wanted response” to get some income.

But the question is — how?  Let’s take a look at ways to increase web site traffic — the pros and cons.

If Content is King, Then Traffic is Queen

So you’ve come up with good content which is interesting to the readers.  Now how in the world do you get them to come on by and take a look?  Here are some traditional ways of gaining targeted traffic.

•    Backlinks from other websites. Excellent in many cases, but not always free.  You can find these links on your own, if you have the time but not the cash.  If you have the cash to invest, there are several good resources that provide the sites you can link from, from as little as $5 for a month’s supply.  The negative?  The backlinks don’t always “stick”, so you’ll need to keep on building to make up for the ones that fall off the horizon.
•    Link exchanges. These are a bit falling out of favor, as reciprocal linking doesn’t hold the strength of 1-way backlinks.  However, if you can score a link exchange with a high PR website in your niche, it’s worth pursuing.  The negative here is that you’ll probably get a lot of “no’s” or (more commonly) no response to your exchange request.
•    Article Marketing. Tried and true, you write unique content and distribute it (for free) to article directories.  You can gain direct traffic from people reading the article on the directory itself and clicking your link.  You can also get (free) backlinks if other web owners decide they want to use your article for content on their web site.  The negative on this one is that you need to be able to write well (or find a good writer to outsource to) and have the perseverance to keep the articles flowing.
•    Search Engine Optimization. In reality, it’s one of the first things you should do; make your web site appetizing for the “spiders”, and so they have a clear idea of your niche.  The negative here is if you’ve already built a web site before optimizing it, you have a lot of work in store for you (might be easier to start over fresh).  And there’s a fair amount to learn as well.

What’s next?  Is there anything else you can do to increase web site traffic?  Glad you asked!
