This is a question I get all the time and many bloggers undoubtedly get all the time.

This is a question I get all the time and many bloggers undoubtedly get all the time.

Should I use a free WordPress Blog? Or should I host my own WordPress Blog?

To be clear, a free WordPress blog can be obtained by simply signing up for one at WordPress.com. The username you use to join becomes your blog name. As an example I have a username "howdoyoustartablog". This translates to my free wordpress blog site "howdoyoustartablog.wordpress.com"

The self-hosted WordPress blog would be on your own domain on your own site you would install the WordPress software on. The WordPress software would then be the blogging system that manage the content of your website. These days, installation is quite easy with most hosting companies. Most use push button software such as Fantastico Deluxe or Simple Scripts to install Wordprses. Check out my website and watch a free video and watch before your eyes as I set up a blog and post to my blog all in about 10 minutes.

So now to address the question: which is the right one for you?

FREE WORDPRESS BLOG PLUSSES AND MINUSES

PLUS free to setup

PLUS installation is easy (done by WordPress the company)

PLUS maintenance is free (setup, upgrades, spam, security, backups are all done by WordPress)

PLUS reliable servers (hosted on WordPress.com servers)

PLUS inclusion into the WordPress.com community may facilitate community traffic

MINUS cannot update/upload your own theme. Must use WordPress.com themes

MINUS cannot edit any of the php code (useful for adding additional features from third parties)

MINUS cannot upload any plugins. The WordPress plugin community is huge by the way

MINUS no ad placements allowed. In fact, WordPress will place their own ads on your blog

MINUS WordPress brand (not your own brand)

MINUS no true ownership of content. Site is still a WordPress site

SELF HOSTED WORDPRESS BLOG PLUSSES AND MINUSES

PLUS can upload custom made and third party WordPress themes. There are thousands of third party themes you can choose from or you can make a custom one.

PLUS can change the php WordPress code as desired. This will allow nearly unlimited functionality in your site. There exists a large community of WordPress developers with many out-of-the-box scripts to add function to your site.

PLUS can upload plugins! iPhone's motto is "There's an app for that". WordPress's motto should be "There's a plugin for that".

PLUS your own ads allowed, better control of monetization

PLUS your own brand/domain name

PLUS you have ftp access to your hosted account which allows you a lot of control on your site outside of your actual WordPress blog

MINUS you need to set up yourself (though most hosting providers provide push button installation through "Fantastico Deluxe" or "Simple Scripts". Plus my free video walks you through this process.

MINUS costs involved to setup. You have to pay domain registrar fees which is about $15 a year. Hosting fees can be $5 to $10 a month.

MINUS you maintain on your own including spam control, backups, security, etc. There are many plugins available for this.

MINUS need to find reliable servers. Make sure to choose a good hosting company. Most of them have a pretty good uptime guarantee.

In summary, if you want just the most basic blogging features of the traditional blogging sense, a free blog is for you. If you plan to monetize it even with adsense, then you will want a self-hosted paid blog. Moreover, if you want to add your own custom look and feel, you will want a self-hosted paid blog. You also have access to many free WordPress themes as well. And finally the world of plugins is the big kicker. Think about apps for the iPhone. There is a quote that whatever you want, .there is an app for that.. Plugins are much the same from security to SEO to driving traffic to membership sites to just about anything.

In most cases, I recommend a self-hosted paid blog.

I hope this has been helpful. And please do contact me if you have any questions or post them here on the blog. And if you are thinking about starting a blog, check out my free video which walks you through the simple setup of a hosted blog in about 10 minutes with a hostmonster account.

One of the definitely most advantageous things, which were created in the 20th century, is the web. It gives great opportunities for people all over the world, from different nationalities and social layers to build up their careers, their knowledge and change their future. Therefore, learning how to make money online is all important.

Though the World Wide Web has remained a portal for leisure and socializing, there is no doubt that it is in the making money online business that it has thrived. Many existing companies now conduct a large part of their business this way, others however use it as their only source of working.

It is no wonder things have gone this way of course. One of the major issues a business has when first setting up are the overheads. Paying for office rents, electricity bills, water rates, maintenance costs and so on and so forth. It all adds up. Takes these away, and things just become simpler to organize, easier to manage and cheaper to run. Here are a few tips for how to make money online.

Today, on the web, there are special sites, called upload servers. They have lots of free space and you can upload as many information, as you like for free. The point here is that when people download the file, you have uploaded, you receive your pay.

Doing this requires a lot of time and resources, before you will be making income, because they pay for every 1000 downloads and all the advertising and promotion work to increase the number of daily downloads the uploader has to do by him self. One really interesting thing here (like in other ways of making money online) is referral programs. If people work in your team, you will receive interest from their income.

Companies and other organizations are always after information. Whether this is to get a message out there, monitor public opinion or to get feedback on a new product. That it is possible to get paid for completing these sponsored surveys makes sense for anyone really.

There are a host of sites that create surveys throughout the year; be it for major brands, local companies, utility companies or even the state. As such, signing up to these could well get a bit of extra cash coming in each month, which will always be welcome.

For skilled people, one of the best ways with how to make money online, is freelancing. Many companies are outsourcing designs, programming, data input and ghostwriting, so people become employees, if they have required knowledge, skills and expertise.

Significant amounts of cash can be made this way, but for those looking to get into a new career or start on their journey, working in this way can be a great way to build experience. A great thing to be able to mention at interview, it could make the difference to securing that dream job.

This examples is just a fraction of the great many ways that people can discover ways in how to make money online. Concentrating on a skill that is already perfected will help a great deal, though being interested in something will make a good deal more sense. For so many people, working in this way is not only generating cash, but creating excellent lifestyles.

Now you can get the information you need to learn how to make money online easy! When you have questions about the methods on making money online, you can get all the answers today!

Blogs are used for many reasons these days (whether it is called a blog or not). Much of the time it is used for marketing. Other times it is used to distribute information much like a press release would. This article, however, will go back to the roots of what a blog is: an online journal.

At its core, a blog is basically an online journal wherein you can digitally pen down your thoughts, ideas, opinions and practically anything that you want people to read. Blogs come in different styles, formats, and settings, depending on the preference of the user. Many blogging sites, offer built in features such as hyperlink, straight texts, pictures etc. Some blogging sites, even allow you to put video and mp3's on your blogs.

So what is in a blog?

A blog consists of many blog posts.

A blog post has these basic features:

Title: which allows you to label your post

Body: this is the content of your blog post

Trackback: this is when other sites link back to your blog entry

Permanent Link: every article that you write has a URL

Comments: this section is for readers to post their comments about your blog entry

Blogging is especially easy today to jump right in and blog right away through the evolution of blogging software. WordPress and Blogger are the two most popular blogging platforms. Both are web based so you can blog from anywhere. Both also have the ability to change the look and feel and design of your blog at the push of a button. For example when the holidays come you can find a holiday design to put on your blog at the push of a button and then change it back later.

I have been focusing on online journal for your blog, but as you learn more about blogging keep your mind open as well because there are many uses for blogs. At its base it is a way to distribute information so blogs can be very useful for just about anybody who needs to get information out to others. So once you get used to how a blog works, don't be surprised if you want to start more than one for all your information distribution needs!

Come to Emil Yau's site and let his free video walk you through step-by-step how to start a blog today!

For those who haven't noticed the awesome power of blogs, then you definitely are missing out on a pretty big piece of the pie. It's easier than you think getting started with blog marketing. This is especially true if you already have a little bit of blogging experience. You just need to learn some of the new things out there for the blogs and you can begin to earn extra money from home with your blog.

The first task is to make certain that you are pretty comfortable when using the blogging software. I personally am a huge fan of WordPress blogs. But there are several other types of blogging software onthe market. Pick one that you want and become comfortable with the platform. Get to know the techniques of posting and editing. Learn how you can customize your blog in order that it looks personalized. If you don't want to get too much into customization, you might do great with a free blog at Blogger.com or WordPress.com.

As soon as you are happy with the way that your blogging software works, you have to choose what market you will work in. This market will be called you 'niche'. Some types of niches are internet marketing or weight loss. Try to find a niche that does not have too much competition but remains to be popular. To achieve this, you might have to choose some more specific niches like 'wine coolers' or 'senior dating'. Many people believe that you need to select a niche that interests you, but I do believe that it makes more sense to find a niche that you think could be profitable.

You now have everything in line to start blog marketing. You just need to fill up your blog with intriguing posts that relate to your niche. So, if you choose the 'weight loss' niche, then you would want to fill your blog with lots of great details about losing weight. Write some posts about different diets and just how people can plan out their diets to meet their schedules. It will make your visitors want to read your content, since you are providing them with some good information. That's the whole point here, you want to get a lot of visitors to your new blog.

By this point, you should have a blog with some excellent information in it. Now, lets think of a few methods that you can start monetizing it. You can post pay per click ads on it and make money when people click on ads. You can also write reviews of affiliate products and propose that your readers purchase products through links on your posts. But, my favorite way to monetize a blog is to offer your readers a free gift in exchange for their e-mail address. Then, you can build a mailing list and market to them again and again.

You need to focus on getting as many people to your blog as you can. So read up somewhat about how precisely to make powerful blog posts and ways in which to optimize a blog for maximum visitors. Start blog marketing today and you should have everything rolling in under a week!

Want to make money blogging? Hundreds of thousands of people are doing exactly that, and you can too, provided you approach it in the right way.

I've been blogging for ten years. In the early years, blogs were a curiosity, and traffic flowed without effort. Nowadays, blogging is a challenge. Let's look at three vital secrets for success.

1. You must have the right content. Before you start your blog, work out who the audience will be, and what your audience wants to know. Be as precise as you can. Once you know who your audience is, you can choose a topic for your blog which will appeal to that audience.

This is a stumbling block for many people new to blogging for money. When you decide on a topic, conduct a quick search to make sure that people are actually looking for that information. If there's no demand for your topic, you'll have a hard time generating traffic to your blog. If this is the case, consider a different topic.

2. People need to be able to find your content. Say you've just put up your blog and you've added twelve posts. That's great, but you've just gotten started. Popular blogs can have hundreds, even thousands of posts, and the top blogs can have as many twenty or more posts in a single day.

Granted, this is a huge amount of content. If you're working alone, chances are you won't be able to compete when it comes to sheer volume. But, pay attention to what these top blogs are doing. They're posting at least once a day (or more), and you should plan on doing the same. The more content you have, the easier it will be for visitors to find your blog.

One of the first ways for people to find your content is through your RSS feed. In less than a week after starting your blog, your feed should be indexed. If you submit your blog's RSS feed to blog directories, you can get indexed even faster.

3. Your content must encourage feedback from your readers. When you've built a following of regular readers, you want real feedback, interaction, not just occasional comments. You want them to use your site for what it was designed for: clicking your ads, and buying your products and services.

If you keep these three points in mind: create the right content, make your content easy to find, and encourage interaction with your content, you'll be much more successful as you try to make money blogging.

Do you know what your blog is worth? Is it worth zero, or could you be sitting on a goldmine (present or future)? Let's explore what's your blog worth.

Do You Have a Focus?

Does your blog have a focus, or are your posts all over the place? Assuming you aren't a public figure or celebrity, a scattered approach to blogging makes it tough to find targeted traffic.

Targeted traffic is more than just desirable -- it's the life of a profitable blog. Without focused traffic, you're going to find it hard to sell anything, much less build equity in your blog.

If you're not too far along in your blogging, you can probably get back on track -- when you have more posts, the "off-focus" ones will be a smaller concern.

On the other hand, if you've been blogging for awhile, your posts are numerous, focus is scattered and your traffic is low...you might be better off starting a new blog.

Traffic, Traffic, Traffic!

Well, make that targeted traffic, which is what raises the value of a blog. Whether you are building a blog to build your business or have the idea of selling it, targeted traffic is the only way to really make money blogging.

But what the heck is targeted traffic? In general, it's traffic that arrives at your site via search engines, and can also be extended to include traffic arriving from articles you've written.

As nice as it is, targeted traffic isn't about things like a Digg front page posting that drives enormous amounts for a day or two. That's fleeting and not part of the traffic flow you want.

What about other social networks, like Twitter and StumbleUpon? If you're getting some steady traffic from them and they view more than 1 page, I'd consider that targeted. What I would not consider targeted is a huge spike from either one -- unless you got repeat traffic because if it. (Example: if a lot of Stumbler’s bookmarked you and came back.)

What's Your Blog Worth?

Ultimately its monetary value lies in the amount and consistency of targeted traffic, along with the focus ("niche") you've selected. For example, a Google 1st page blog on goldfish (even if there is a lot of targeted traffic) won't have the same monetary value as a high traffic blog about affiliate programs. Different niches, different monetization possibilities.

The only exception to the above would be a blog that has a highly sought-after domain name (example, florida.com). Even if the blog had virtually no traffic, the value is in the name itself. But these days, it's really hard to come across those kinds of names.

So what's your blog worth? Nothing until you build it up, unless you've got a desirable domain name. But with time, your blog can bring you profits, whether through affiliate sales, brick-and-mortar sales or selling the blog itself!

What is WordPress anyway? You might know that it's a blogging platform, but in reality, it's more. And it's definitely the road to profitable blogging.

What (Exactly) is WordPress?

WordPress is split into two things. First, wordpress.com is a free blogging site. You can register with wordpress.com and be up and blogging in about 10 minutes. It's easy and fast, as well as a great way to get started blogging if you've never done it before.

On the other hand, wordpress.org is the software used to manage the blog. It's free blog software that you can use to power your own profitable web log.

And because it's free software, the great news is that many web hosting services offer 1-click installations of the wordpress.org software. One click and the software is installed without you having to do anything more complicated than deciding upon a login name.

Blogger vs WordPress

As far as free blogging sites go, the two major contenders are blogger and wordpress. I've used both, and while both are good, I like wordpress.com better (as far as free blog hosts go).

But neither holds a candle to the power of the wordpress.org software on a paid hosting service.

Why WordPress?

If you're looking to make money blogging, your most powerful ally is the wordpress software. Why? Let me count the ways.

Flexibility. To the best of my knowledge, wordpress is the most flexible blogging software there is.

Cost. The wordpress software is free, and free is good! And what makes it better is that there are also a plethora of free wordpress themes and wordpress plugins you can use.

Plugins. Plugins add all kinds of functionality to a wordpress blog, without you knowing a lick of code. You can add polls, automate Adsense ads, display ebay auctions, track statistics and do all kinds of fun things.

Themes. There are a ton of free wordpress themes out there. With a theme, you can change the look and feel of your blog in about 10 seconds. You're not locked into looking like everyone else. And the hardest part? Deciding which theme you like best!

So there are just a few reasons why wordpress makes sense. It's great for everyone, but especially useful for anyone who wants to make money blogging; read on to find out why.

Profitable Blogging and WordPress

Remember I said something about wordpress plugins? There are free plugins that help your blogs get listed with the search engines - fast. I've been listed in as little as 24 hours for some sites! And the sooner that the search engines know your site is out there, the sooner they can send you traffic.

There are also plugins that help you monetize your blog quickly and easily. For example, do you want to use AdSense on your blog to make money? There's a free plugin that makes it an absolute breeze.

Want to use the eBay affiliate program but hate the hoops they make you jump through to set it up for each blog post? You guessed it -- there is a plugin that can automate putting the ebay affiliate ads on your posts.

Belong to the Amazon affiliate program? Yes indeed, there are plugins for Amazon as well.

All this serves to highlight that if there is something in particular that you want to monetize, there's likely a wordpress plugin for it.

Now here's the deal -- you can only use these plugins if you have your own web hosting. You can't install these plugins on a wordpress.com blog. I'll cover the ins and outs of web hosting in another post, but suffice to say that you can get web hosting for around $5 a month or more. And wordpress is free!

The answer to the question, "what is wordpress" is that it's simply the most powerful blog software there is. And the best platform on which to build a blog that makes money.

Easy Methods To Profit From Your Blog With 3 Effortless Ways

Author: Rahul Vaidya

Once you have your blog ready to go, you probably want to find some other ways to monetize it with your main products or services.

A very effective way to use your blog to make "extra" cash is by writing product reviews. While reviews are a great way to convert visitors, it does take some time to write a good review.

In case you are not looking towards writing anymore than you already are but would still like to find some quick ways to make some money from your blog, then the three that I have listed below should do the trick for you.

1. Put an AdSense or other textual ad block on your sidebar or post. Putting an ad block like AdSense is very easy related to just a couple of lines of code. As I mentioned, AdSense is only some of the game in town. There are other textual ad services out there that operate like AdSense and even offer more flexibility.

2. Banner ads. Banners have evolved quite a bit since the era of the long flashing banner you would see along the top of a page. Now you will see smaller block banners and narrow banners going vertically rather than horizontally across the top. Quite a number of the top products you could become an affiliate for offer many different banner ads that you should use on your blog.

3. Text ads within your posts. You can include text links to products that are based on the posts that you make. When writing about a topic that includes the use of a products or services, you can include a link to a vendor within your post. These are very effective at conversions along with reviews.

Of course, if you actually don't want to hassle with setting up those but you still want your blog monetized, you can opt for a theme that will do it for you. There are WordPress themes that are specifically designed to place those links and ads on your blog for you.

Just do a search for WordPress themes or blog themes and layouts. Locate a theme that helps you build and place your ads in the blog.

To Make Money Online from blogging, it is not necessary to have a lot experience. Using the above mentioned 3 techniques can easily yield good earnings for your blog.

Yes, you can make money using AdSense on your blog or website. It's one of the easiest ways to make money blogging, and can be extremely lucrative. But while AdSense works well for most niches, it's not for everyone.

Let's take a look at how AdSense works and if it's right for your site.

What is the AdSense Affiliate Program?

AdSense is a program that automatically displays relevant ads on your blog. These are from advertisers who have products or services for sale, that people looking at your site may be interested in.

Whenever a person is on your site and clicks on one of the ads, you get paid a sum of money. Sometimes it's a penny or two; sometimes it's several dollars; the sum depends on the keywords used.

How Does AdSense Work?

When you are accepted into the Google AdSense affiliate program, you'll receive the information you need to include the ads on your blog posts. You can either enter the information (in the form of javascript) by hand, or automatically using a WordPress plugin.

(I use the All in One AdSense and YPN plugin, which is free.)

You can choose from several different kinds and formats for the ads you display on your site.

How Does AdSense Pay You?

Google pays once a month, and you must reach the payment threshold of $100. If you don't reach $100, the amount will roll over until the following month(s) until you do reach at least $100.

If you're in the United States, you can have your payment direct deposited into your bank account. Otherwise, you can use the default (a check).

Why Use AdSense?

It's probably the easiest way to make money online. With just a little bit of code (or even easier, with a plugin), you can set it and forget it.

But It's Not for Everyone

Easy it may be, but AdSense still isn't for everyone -- here's why.

In order to make money, you need targeted traffic to your site. While you can make money on just 10 page views a day, a steady income generally needs at least 100 page views a day. And obviously, the more traffic the better.

The other thing you need is a niche that has plenty of ads for the niche. For example, if your niche is organic goldfish food, you may not find many (any?) advertisers willing to post ads. If there aren't any ads showing, you can't make money.

Other variables include your CTR (Click Thru Rate) and the ad costs. Ads can pay anything from pennies to dollars per click, and the amount depends on how much advertisers are willing to spend. Here's where I talk more about what is CTR and why it's important.

Targeted Traffic, Plenty of Ads?

If your blog gets of targeted traffic and there are plenty of ads for your keywords, then you may want to consider making AdSense part of your profitable blogging strategy. Just remember that unless you have at least 100 page views a day, though, your earnings may be a bit erratic. However, as your traffic builds, so will your AdSense income!

If this sounds like it's for you, here's where you can sign up for AdSense (for free).

Author: Joseph Adam

The internet brings a lot of things to do for a lot of people. Thanks to the internet, people from different parts of the world will now be able to communicate and interact with each other for free. One way to reach out to people is through blogs. In fact, blogging brings fame and even can let you earn extra cash if you're good enough.

Basically, blogging was originally created as an online journal or diary where people are able to express their feelings and let other people know about it through the internet. Today, blogging is now considered to be one of the most popular ways for people to interact with each other and share their point of view about different kinds of things.

From life experiences, to trying a particular product, blogging can definitely make you famous.

So, how can you become famous through blogging and how can you take advantage of your blogging website that it can generate you some extra cash?

First of all, you have to remember that blogging is all about writing. It's like writing a novel where you need to get people hooked into reading it. The great thing about blogging is that once people like what they read, they will often recommend it to their friends and so on. This is how you basically get famous through blogging.

You can also try posting in forums and on article publishing websites where at the end of each post, you will put in a link to the website where your blogs can be accessed.

Once you get loyal readers, you can start earning some cash. Depending on the subject of your blogs, you can become an affiliate marketer where you will include links of affiliate companies in your blogs. You can also make money by selling merchandises. For example, you can sell T-shirts, coffee cups, and other stuff.

In order to become famous, you need to write blogs that people will want to read. If you are going to talk about your life experiences, focus on one subject. For example, if you love the outdoors, try writing your experiences about it and don't be afraid to bend reality and fiction. You can always mix both. It is also a good idea to mix in some sarcastic humor that people will surely love reading even if they get a bit offended.

The key to writing good blogs is by getting people's attention on the first sentence. Once you get their attention, then the rest of the blog you write should be able to keep them reading. Never go from one subject to another. When writing blogs, you need to be consistent and everything you write should be relevant.

Once you get people to read your blogs and if they really like what they read, they will often recommend it to their friends. All you need to do is sit back and watch it spread like wild fire. However, you have to remember that once you get loyal readers, they will keep on demanding more from you. Try to update your blog site in order for you to keep your readers loyal and excited.

As you can see, blogging brings fame. If you want to be known in the internet, then blogging is the best way to get people's attention. However, you should always remember that one should write good blogs in order for it to last.

Lastly, you got to check out the blogging method that bring in income every month. I start generate three hundreds dollars for the 1st week following the methods, not easy though, but it is still growing every month.

The content of your blog is an important factor in gaining traffic and acquiring a target audience. Publishing your first article or item is a great milestone in your blogging career. Fortunately, there are several basic guidelines, which can make your content more effective to your audience, adored by the search engines and respected by the world of blogging.

Publishing Effective Content

Before you begin to write anything on your blog, you should know who your target audience is and what they want. If you see these factors as irrelevant for your blog because your blog is not business oriented in any way, you must remember that if you want readers then these factors are really relevant.

Always remember that where there are readers there is something interesting to read. The only reason why people read is because they want something. If you really want to achieve some kind of massive readership, you must strive to make your content interesting and actually what readers want.

First of all, keep in mind that communication is the key. More so, your communication must be authentic. The time when you publish your content is also the time when you let your true self surface. Blogs are personal in nature and communication is the key to being personal. The fact that each blog is unique because each writer is unique is enough for you to not to worry about future similarities with other blog entries. Keep in mind that whatever topic you are blogging about you must incorporate your personality with your writing.

In order to create a loyal target audience, it is important for the visitors to trust you and relate to you. It does not necessarily entail that they know about your personal details but you must connect with your audience in an authentic manner.

After establishing your communication with your audience, the content must also be credible. The blog must have authenticity even though credibility takes a lot of time to build.

The moment you begin publishing your content, which is of high value and useful to the readers, you also start establishing your authority. There will come a time when your readers ask you for advice or seek for your opinion; this is the time when you have achieved some kind of credibility and you must use this to build your reputation as a blogger.

Blogger's Block

Blogging is writing but uses a different medium. There are several methods to fight blogger's block. Always remember that your blog software exists to serve you and not to frighten you. You do not have to try blogging carrying the idea that you have prolific writing skills, or a journalism degree. The fact is that you have something to say and you want others to hear it. However, if you are feeling stuck on an idea, there are several suggestions that you can apply when creating the content for your blog.

Firstly, you can try visiting other blogs. Visit those blogs that interest you and pick ideas and topics from those blogs that might be worth blogging about but keep in mind the relevance of the topic and your readership. You can also syndicate your news updates. You can do this by subscribing to news services online because they allow you to save time on searching using keywords. This is most useful for bloggers.

Lastly, you got to check out the blogging method that bring in income every month. I start generate three hundreds dollars for the 1st week following the methods, not easy though, but it is still growing every month.

Best blog & how to make money blogging is a question everyone asks, sooner or later. Is it really possible though? Yes it is, but not the way the books tell you. Here's why.

What the Best Blog Books Tell You

If you've read any of the books best blog on blogging, you'll see a theme. The suggestions for how to make money blogging include:

Google AdSense and Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN): Very popular; with some script code, relevant ads appear on your blog. When people click on the ads, you get paid a portion of the fee the advertiser is charged. Very much a hands-off method of paid blogging.

Text Link Ads: Similar to AdSense and YPN in that you get ads appropriate to your content. But you have control over what ads can be shown on your site.

Sponsored Reviews: Connects up advertisers and bloggers who are willing to review the advertiser's products on the blog, for a fee.

Pay Per Post: You can bid on creating blog posts for specific topics, and if a publisher accepts your bid, you are paid a fee for the blog post.

Affiliate Marketing: Also quite popular; you provide links to affiliate programs. When someone buys from that link, you make a commission.

Corporate Sponsorship: If you have the demographic audience a company is seeking, they may pay for ads on your blog.

Yes, you can make money at any or all of these and it does not have to be the best blog, but the next section tells why you may not earn that money.

What the Best Blog Books Don't Tell You

What the best blog books don't tell you is just as important as what they do mention. And the biggest roadblock to making money blogging is traffic (specifically, lack of targeted traffic).

For example, a year or so ago, before I had really gotten the hang of blogging, I applied to some of these programs...and was promptly turned down. Why? Because I didn't have the traffic numbers the companies were seeking. AdSense, YPN and some affiliate programs accepted me, so I went with those.

However, for any of these to work, you must have lots of targeted traffic. It's not just "build the best blog and they will come" unless you have researched your niche market extremely well. What kind of traffic am I talking about? For the average blog, at least 200 page views a day to start, especially when it comes to AdSense and YPN.

(I will admit that I have made a good amount of money on some of my sites that get less than 50 page views a day. I did it because I picked a marketing niche where people were looking to buy a specific product, and I just showed them where to find it.)

Don't Fall for Buying "Hits"

There are a lot of places out there that will guarantee a certain amount of traffic to your site. Unfortunately, that traffic is for the most part useless; people go to your blog and immediately click off it. They aren't there to read your blog or buy anything.

So save your money, because potential advertisers can recognize when traffic isn't organic (i.e. from search engines).

How to Make Money Blogging

OK, here's some good news and some bad news when it comes to how to make money blogging. Unless you are exceedingly lucky, it will take more than the best blog to bring in a nice consistent monthly income. Why?

Some blogs that make money may have a seasonal readership; perhaps they get loads of traffic (and income) in the summer, but almost none in the winter. Some blogs aren't great topics for AdSense; others don't have good affiliate programs from which to choose. With multiple blogs, your income is more consistent and larger.

Honestly, it's not all that hard to manage multiple blogs. And if you've researched your niche well, you'll get traffic sooner than later. The kind of traffic that is looking for what you have to offer.

If you think you're up to learning how to make money blogging with multiple blogs, click this link and take a look. It's how I learned how to earn more money faster. It may or may not be for you; you'll have to be the judge of that. I'm just saying that for my husband and me...it works well.

So yes, you can blog for profit. You can earn money every month. Just keep in mind that you need targeted traffic before you earn that money.

Author: Joseph Adam

Blogs can be for profit or non-profit but most bloggers blog for the purpose of making money. There may be some contents published to simply provide an outlet for voicing out the bloggers opinions and share their thoughts. However, the general population of bloggers has the intention of profiting financially. Fortunately, there are several methods of profiting from a blog and applying these methods can help you gain money.

The Advertisements

Selling space for advertisers is one of the most common ways to profit from a blog. Since blogs that have a considerable amount of traffic can make income with ad sales, make sure that you have a target audience. The reason why bloggers choose to sell advertising is that it is a passive form of income once the traffic has progressed. Although it takes work to look for advertisers and maintain the ads on the blog, those who can achieve it can gain reasonable amount of money with the ads.

Compared to other forms of profiting from a blog, selling advertisement space can be one of the most consistent revenue streams. If you are able to maintain your ad slots filled, you should have a very good idea of just how much you can make every month.

On the negative side, selling ads requires you to have some kind of established traffic. Traffic is important because it draws interest from potential advertisers. You might find it hard to sell an ad space without traffic and it will most likely not produce much revenue. Additionally, the blog must have a target audience in order to achieve the maximum amount of cash for advertisement space. Remember that advertisers are more likely to pay if your target audience is a match to theirs.

Affiliate programs are also a major resource of profits for several bloggers. Affiliate programs are excellent in a sense that they enable you to have the opportunity to make money even if your blog has a small audience. However, one bad side to affiliate programs is that there can be instances where you cannot make any money at all.

Newly created blogs feature affiliate ads most of the time compared to selling space directly to advertisers. Since selling ads is hard to do without much traffic, affiliate programs are perfect for new blogs. More so, they can be easily maintained and only take very little time.

Promoting and Premium Content

Bloggers who are service providers at the same time have an excellent opportunity to look for clients and increase their rates. Maintaining a blog that focuses on your area of expertise can help you easily become a recognized authority in your field. Additionally, it can aid potential clients to find you. You can also benefit from the increase in demand of your services and improved reputation that you build, which enable you to charge more for your services.

Aside from promoting your services, selling premium contents are also excellent ways to profit from a blog. Blogs are a massive source of information and remember that not everything has to be free. There are bloggers and business that attained success by selling some of their work. There are blogs that sell memberships on their Web sites. Although selling premium content is possible in any field, you must have the capability to give something to the reader that is worth paying for.

The first category, the organization, uses the power of blogs to communicate either externally with the public or internally within their organizations. This kind of blog has the purpose of facilitation internal communications amongst employees, colleagues and other organizational personnel. In addition, organizational blogs normally publish information that is of interest by the public. In a certain instance, there are organizational blogs that publish seminar schedules, meetings, and announcements for their clients, customers or members.

The business blogs, on the other hand, are for promoting services or products offered by businesses in order to help increase profits, revenue and interest of potential consumers. These kinds of blogs can look for ways to increase their reputation and authority with vendors, customers and partners. They do this by publishing contents that express expertise and knowledge within a specific market portion, niche or industry.

The personal blogs are those that contain contents that are more of a reflection of bloggers opinions and thoughts. Normally, they are used to publish articles that voice their points of view on several kinds and varieties of events and topics. Bloggers who publish personal contents usually find pleasure in documenting their everyday lives, stream of consciousness and even their hate to specific events through articles that reflects their moods.

The Target Audience

Your target audience and blogging style comes hand in hand. The moment you think of creating your own blog, you must first realize what your target audience is; you must know what they want, need and desire to read about. The blog you create and the contents you publish must provide quality and value to the readers in order to be effective in establishing communication and expanding readership.

More so, the kind of blog you want to create essentially creates its own target audience. For instance, an organizational blog is meant for those who are members or clients of a certain organization. Although the target audience may be limited, there is a good chance for consistency with regards to the dialogue you create with your readers and eventually more people would be interested in your blog.

The mentioned personal blogs are not normally designed for social dialogue with a certain target readership of any category and is rather meant to serve as a collection of your musings. These kinds of blogs are best reserved to your close friends and they are your target audience.

If you identify your target audience successfully, your messages that you want everyone to know about will be effectively targeted. Some of the greatest joys of blogging come from the use of your enthusiasm in publishing signification information for a community where there is a free exchange of opinions between the readers and you.
