Improve Adsense Earnings

Author: Michael Fleischner

Making money with Adsense is easy if you know what to do and how to do it. Each day, websites are earning income from displaying Google Ads. Google Adsense is easy to implement and can provide addition online revenue for anyone looking to make some extra money. There are even some sites making lots of money with Google Adsense. These web sites apply some simple techniques to really improve their overall earning potential. Consider applying some of these techniques to your own website.

How much you earn with Google Adsense depends on a variety of things including the types and placements of the ads you show as well as the competitiveness of the ads. In a market or niche where there is little supply but high demand, ads generate more money for both Google and the publishers displaying Google Adsense. Before placing code on your web page, consider the fact that some ad placements generate higher click through rates than others. For example, ads placed above the fold tend to have a higher conversion rate than those towards the bottom of the page.

Upon doing a little research, I was able to find a map of placements that Google recommends. Their recommendation is based on reviewing all Adsense ads and placements throughout their network. What they found is that ads placed on the left, top, and bottom outperformed those located on the right-hand side of the page. Keep in mind however that you need to run your own tests as each website is unique and users perform differently based on the type of site they’re using.

Adsense ads that perform well on one page may not perform as well on a similar page that resides on a different domain. This is largely due to the fact that top performing ads are wrapped around valuable content. Some content, such as product reviews for example, generate higher click through rates than informational content with few products or services available. Ads perform best when needs are established and solutions can be presented.

Another aspect of Adsense related to earning is selecting the proper ad sizes. Different ad sizes in different locations perform in different ways. In fact, sometimes changing an ad format slightly can produce a significantly better result. Many advertisers find that large rectangles in content areas work best, while more traditional banners produce fewer clicks. The best way to generate more revenue is to continually test ad performance using split tests.

Consider changing the color palette of your ads. You can run a color palette that matches your site, blends with your web page, or takes on a completely different look. Don’t always assume that one style is better than another. In some cases, ads that blend generate accidental clicks and those that are in contrast stick out enough to get noticed and acted upon. As is true with all other ad related criteria, you should test different color schemes and templates.

Alter the number of ads you’re running on your page. Should you only have one ad or multiple ads? This all depends on the layout of your site, flow of traffic, and ultimately how everything looks together. If you site is too clutter, people will leave. On the other hand, too bare and you may find that users ignore your ads. Continually test the number of ad placements to determine what is idea. I have found that 2 – 3 placements per page works best.

Consider working with the different variations of Adsense factors to improve your revenue from online advertising. Ad size, number of units, placements, and so on can each have a significant impact on your results. Start with the more common sizes like half banners and medium squares and place two to three units per page. Test frequently and measure your results. Refine your placements and style and soon you’ll be making more from your Adsense ads.

Internet Home Business Ideas Without Money Involved: Blogging

by Diep Tran

If you would like to start an internet home business without investment of money, and learn internet marketing for free, then blogging is the first method you should think of. What is blogging?

Blogging is basically writing an online journal (or blog) wherein you can pen down your ideas, opinions, thoughts and every thing you can think of.

Setup and Host A Blog

Unlike a website you can set up a blog and hosted for free. If you don’t have computer savvy then Blogger.com is the first hosting company to be considered. It is first very easy to set up and maintain and secondly Google owns Blogger and they visit web pages on their servers very often and fast, compared to a website. There are also other possibilities to host your blog on e.g. WordPress or Moveable Type, but you will need more computer skills to install your blog on these hosts.

Advantages of a Blog in Comparison to a Website

There are many advantages of a blog above a website, except it is easy to setup and free. You can put every thing in your blog: from a couple of lines what it is on your mind or your new article just published elsewhere, or a product review. In principle, a blog is the same as a website, but you will need to update more frequently to get the visitors to your site. A major advantage of a blog here above a website to getting major search engines like Google and Yahoo to visit your blog frequently is a technique called “pinging”. It’s a method of notifying all of the major search engines and blog directories, each time that you have updated your blog. The search engines will come and to take a look at your blog, thereby increasing traffic to your blog. If you link your blog to your websites, the search engines will follow the links from the blog pointing to your sites. This will help the search engine rankings of your sites as well!

How to Make Money with A Blog?

You can monetize your blog by creating a blog on a topic people are searching for and that they are spending money on. Do some research of niches based upon pay-per-click advertisers (e.g. Google Adwords) are willing to spend their advertising money on.

Adding Google AdSense ads on my blogs is a good way to make money from your blog. Simply insert these ads in the menu bar and other strategic places on your blog page. You could also consider other paid advertising on your blog.

Advertise affiliate products in your blog. You could register for an affiliate for free at companies like Clickbank, PayDotCom or Commission Junction. Choose products that you would like to promote and incorporate links on your blog.

In conclusion, blogging is an effective method to make money online, and above all it is free. It should be considered by some one who is new in internet marketing and by who have been in internet marketing for a significant period to improve the business from their websites.
